Boscotek nail the brief at Wintec’s ground-breaking Engineering and Trades Facility
Wintec’s Engineering and Trade’s Facility has an open plan layout, flexible teaching spaces and the latest technologies. Wintec’s ground-breaking facility supports a new teaching style to better meet the needs of today’s employers. Students are learning as they do in the real world, as a team of engineers engaged in project-based group work.
Wintec wanted to engage a company with the vision to understand these objectives and provide unique workshop solutions that would contribute to their 21st century teaching and learning goals. Boscotek was the choice.

Project Goal
To provide aesthetic, practical and cost-effective workshop solutions to support the building’s unique design and Wintec’s new way of learning.
The Process
The fit out of these innovative workshops and teaching spaces was put out to tender. The tender included the Automotive, Welding, Fabrication, Engineering, Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry and Construction workshops and required the successful company to meet demanding standards of excellence. The Boscotek product range was selected. Boscotek is an Australian-made product, manufactured by Wilson & Gilkes in South West Sydney. Wilson & Gilkes offered quality manufacturing processes and the expertise to engage in a detailed design and specification procedure.
Boscotek attended several meetings, working with Wintec representatives to ensure that the product met Wintec’s unique requirements, developing meticulous designs. Wintec’s Project Manager, Katherine MacGillivray summed up this successful working relationship:

The Solution
Boscotek Mobile Flight Line Tool Storage
The Boscotek Mobile Flight Line Tool Storage offered mobile tool storage for these large flexible open spaces. Large volumes of precision tools and instruments could be stored together in a dust-resistant environment. The Boscotek Flight line cabinet has the latest design in clear polycarbonate roller shutters providing clear vision of the tools and instruments being stored and a modern appearance appropriate for Wintec’s futuristic facility.
Boscotek Mobile tool & Parts Drawer Storage Cabinets
Mobility and workflow flexibility were further enhanced with the Boscotek Mobile Metal Drawer Storage Cabinets that move around on castors. The cabinets came with a steel frame and 5 drawers, a tray top with a rubber mat, side pull handles and standard partitioning & divider sets in each drawer.
Boscotek Heavy Duty Workbenches
These benches have height adjustable legs that ensure each workstation meets the ergonomic requirements for each individual, including students with physical disabilities. These workbenches are designed to support heavy loads to accommodate heavy duty applications. The workbench bench top is arguably the most important feature of any workbench and Boscotek’ involvement in the specification process resulted in Wintec selecting the 33mm thick compressed timber bench top with a 2mm laminated workface with black edge banding. These durable and strong bench tops resist acid, alkali and oil. The underside of the work surface is laminated to prevent moisture absorption, warping and shedding.

Boscotek are extremely proud of the solution that they provided for this pioneering Engineering and Trades Facility.
